Before the saw 3D event created by Dgtl, Yahoo! had never promoted a certificate 18 film on the home page. It’s a fine balance to be edgy without scaring Yahoo!’s younger audience.

Dgtl took the lead from initial brainstorming through storyboarding to final design and build. The aim was to create an environment for users to explore the various media available and to add as much depth as posible to the creative to reinforce the 3D elements of the film.

Due to file size and flashplayer restrictions homepage events present an interesting challenge. At Dgtl we always strive to push these boundaries and restrictions and get that little bit extra wherever possible. We used PaperVision 3D to achieve the 3D feel which works in older flash players and therefore reaches more users.

The Saw 3D project was very well received by Yahoo! and Lionsgate and has to be one of most enjoyable and interactive ads designed and built here at Dgtl… Until the next one!
